Sakura-The Cherry Blossom Embroidery

The Cherry Blossom (Sakura) in Japan has been celebrated for many centuries and it holds prominent importance in the Japanese culture. The sakura blooms from March through May. Each year people gather to watch the beauty of the blooms (Hanami) and how at the peak of their beauty the blossoms start to fall. This provides a stark reminder that although life is beautiful, it is simple, ephemeral, and short.

The stitches comprise split back stitch (#splitbackstitch) and french knots (#frenchknot).
